Fishing has been a lot slower since all the rain raised the river about 2 feet, but it crested yesterday, cleared up and is heading back down. This will help considerably with the walleye, sauger and panfish. Getting some catfish and sturgeon right now.
The road to get here is a little trickier with road construction. Highway 35 from Stoddard to Genoa is closed, but you can either take the detour they set up or just get on County O out of Stoddard to County K and that comes down to Highway 56, almost in Genoa. Go south to the fishing barge or go north (past the road closed sign) to Capain Hook's.
There still are a few changes due to the current conditions and we ask that you respect social guidelines as much as possible. Work with us and we will do our best to keep this a safe and pleasant experience for everyone. We look forward to seeing you all and encourage everyone to wear a mask while riding in the boat. There will also be reduced numbers in the boat as well. I will be doing so. Thanks.
Captain Hook's opens its doors in the morning at 6:30 a.m.. but on Friday and Saturday they are open at 6:00 a.m.
